WELCOME HOME? A Reentry Housing Crisis in Orange County

This 17-minute documentary presents the story of a growing crisis in affordable housing in Orange County, North Carolina. Welcome Home? presents the unscripted voices of advocates, social workers, community leaders and police officers, as well as individuals who have been or are currently living without shelter. The interviews were recorded during a few weeks at the end of a cold winter in 2024, primarily in Carrboro and Chapel Hill.

The guiding purpose of the production and distribution of Welcome Home? is to bring more public awareness and new ways of understanding a community issue for residents of Orange County. This short film was produced by Donna Campbell and Georgann Eubanks of MINNOW MEDIA in association with the Local Reentry Council of Orange County.

Welcome Home? has been selected for the Carrboro Film Fest and will be part of a special community presentation on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the new Drakeford Library in Carrboro. Details to come. Watch the preview below.

The video and a toolkit for discussion are available for community groups, churches and individuals.
